Accident Prevention Program

(Yakima Roofing & Remodeling, LLC)

Element 1 - Safety Orientation: Each employee will be given a safety orientation by Brandon Woodcock, Justin Tanner or Jeremy Woodcock when first hired. The orientation will cover the following items:

1.      A description of the accident prevention program:

·      We have a formal written accident prevention program as described in WISHA regulations (WAC 296-800-140).

·      It consists of this safety orientation and a safety committee that is described in Part 2 below.

·      We also have basic safety rules that all employees must follow. They are:

·      Each employee must read the site-specific fall protection plan and sign their names to the copy. The site-specific copy will be on site and you are expected to sign and date when you’re told it’s ready for review. Failure to sign and date or work in compliance to the site-specific fall protection plan will result in a warning, fallowed by further steps to correct behavior.

  1. Employees will be instructed in the importance of Protective Equipment such as Gloves an Eye protection, Footwear, Hardhats and fall protection equipment. They must fallow these guidelines.
  2. Employee’s will be instructed in safety

3.      How and when to report injuries. Where first aid facilities are located.

·      If you are injured or become ill on the job, report this to (Add name or title of person to whom injuries should be reported to).

·      There is a first aid kit located. The tool trailer will and each truck will have a first aide kit.

·      We require all supervisors to have first-aid/CPR training. [1]

3.      How to report unsafe conditions and practices.

·      If you see something that is unsafe or someone working unsafely, immediately report it to (Brandon, Justin Or Jeremy or title of person to whom unsafe conditions should be reported).

4.      What to do in an emergency including how to exit the workplace.

In the event of a serious injury on the roof the injured shall be assisted to the ground and rendered first aide treatment or transported to the ER. In the event of a fall, the injured shall not be moved. A coat shall be placed upon him to keep him from shock. Someone must call 911.

Fire Emergency

·      Call 911. We are not trained to handle fires and the situations that fire fighters are trained for.

·      If the fire is small use a fire extinguisher and attempt to put the fire out. Regardless of success call 911

·      Tell other employees in the area to evacuate.

·      Go to the designated assembly point outside the building.

5.      Identification of hazardous chemicals used at this location.

·      Safe use and emergency actions to take following an accidental exposure.

·      Typical chemicals that we must be concerned with is Weathered membrane cleaner for TPO roofs and Gasoline. If you get any on your clothing or skins wash with plenty soap and water.

6.      Use and care of required personal protective equipment (PPE).[2]

·      Some tasks in our company require an employee to wear PPE to protect against injury.

·      You will be instructed by Brandon Woodcock, Jeremy Woodcock or Justin Tanner in using the manufacturer’s instructions that are attached to this program how to use and care for these PPE.

7.      On-the-job training about what you need to know to perform the job safely.

At Yakima Roofing & Remodeling, LLC we believe in on the site training and expect that our verbale lessons be taken seriously. On the site training means you will receive short detailed demonstrations of the related safety concerns of that task. As your knowledge increases these teachings will turn into reminders if we see that you’re not abiding by the safety practices and protocols that we have discussed.

The reason why we put a lot of effort into on site training is in case an employee fails to read this manual or the fall protection plans. On site training is our last def in case an employee failed to read this manual or in the event something wasn’t covered in this manual.

Employee Safety Meetings

·      Before each job the lead will go over certain safety topic concerns that may the biggest concerns on that project.

·      All employees who will be working on that project must be present.

·      The leader of the meeting will be Brandon Woodcock and will proceed by going over what is identified as the most relevant topics to be discussed. The lead safety manager Brandon Woodcock or Jeremy Woodcock will document all employees present, the project and the date. [3]
