Vinyl siding is considered affordable and low maintenance. However the upfront sales pitch doesn't typically include the main product issues.

Breaks in the panels and trims are very common. Weed eaters are a common cause to damage down low. Lawn mowers hitting yard debris, hail and kids playing catch can result in breaks as well.

Painting can present other issues. Vinyl never needs to be painted however if you desire another color you must choose a lighter shade or it could lead to panels to warp and bow.

Melting is another issue that can be caused by many reasons. A neighbors window reflection can cause hot spots that move along the side of the home causing sever warping. The heat of a neighbors home that's on fire or a BBQ that's too close can also melt siding.
